Conference week note
Booking conference-week rooms at The Star Grand Brisbane
For a conference week at Queen’s Wharf, treat the room request as part of the event plan, not as an afterthought. The Star Grand is the hotel attached to The Star Brisbane, with 340 rooms published for the hotel. The event pages publish selected venue details, but not a full delegate-accommodation process, so the useful work is in the request you send.

Start with the event pattern, not only the room count
A conference-week stay request should open with the working pattern: arrival date, departure date, main meeting days, expected delegate peak, and the room types you need. The Star Grand publishes these room categories: City King Room, City Accessible Room, City Twin Room, River King Room and River Accessible Room. It also publishes City Suite, River Suite, Skyline City Suite and Skyline Penthouse Suite. Use those names, rather than inventing internal labels such as “standard”, “deluxe” or “executive”.
The published hotel count for The Star Grand is 340 rooms. That number matters if you are asking for a block during a conference week. It sets expectations without implying that every room is available, or that a block has already been secured. If your group needs accessible rooms, name the accessible categories and state whether the requirement is firm or a preference. If twins are required for staff sharing, ask for City Twin Room availability in the first note rather than leaving it to a later revision.
Include billing requirements early. The resort’s public hotel pages do not publish a corporate billing procedure, invoice format, rooming-list deadline or cancellation scale for a conference block. That is normal for larger enquiries, but it means the request should ask for those terms in writing. If you are coordinating the accommodation through this desk, the same information belongs in the request a business stay form: dates, expected rooms, rooming-list timing, delegate names if known, and whether the traveller or employer will settle charges.
Use the venue facts the hotel actually publishes
The Star Brisbane’s event material names the Event Centre and says it has a “1,440 seat ballroom with pre-function bar, outdoor terrace and views to the Story Bridge”. The opening release also describes a “3,500sqm Event Centre boasting the city’s largest hotel ballroom”. Those are the useful published facts for a conference-week accommodation request. They tell the hotel what scale you are matching, without you having to attach your own capacity assumptions.
The events page also names Isoletto Pool Club, Sky Deck and Leisure Deck as event venues. If your programme uses one of those spaces, name it exactly and say whether it is for a welcome function, client dinner, staff session or recovery morning. Do not assume that a venue is available, exclusive, weather-proof or suitable for presentations unless the hotel confirms it. The Sky Deck is published as weather-dependent, with Aloria, Babblers and Cicada Blu listed on that level. For dinner planning around a client group, the separate Sky Deck and dining guide is the better place to check the published venue names and hours.
For a larger programme, send the accommodation request alongside the event enquiry, not after the agenda is locked. The events contact published by the resort is TSBsales@star.com.au. The official hotel and events pages are at star.com.au/brisbane. This site is independent of The Star, The Star Entertainment Group and Destination Brisbane Consortium; the role here is to shape the stay request and send it to the appropriate booking path.
What to send through the desk
A good conference-week note is short, but complete. It should state the company name, event name if confirmed, arrival and departure dates, number of rooms by night, preferred room categories, accessible-room needs, and whether suites are required for hosts or speakers. If the group is still tentative, say so. Hotels can price and hold space differently when a request is provisional, and the public pages do not publish those commercial rules.
Add practical points that affect delegates. The hotel publishes check-in as 3:00 PM and check-out as 11:00 AM, with express check-out on request. Valet is via the porte cochere at 33 William Street. The Star Brisbane car park is open 24/7 subject to availability, has entrances at William Street, Queen’s Wharf Road and Margaret Street, and does not take vehicles over 2.1m. Rates are published by the venue and should be checked on the official page rather than copied into a rooming note that may date quickly.
For delegates flying in, the resort does not publish an airport distance or transfer time in the facts checked for this page. Use the airport and Airtrain note for general arrival planning, then check official timetables and airline timings for the actual conference dates. If the week includes one-night arrivals or early departures, identify them as exceptions in the rooming list rather than hiding them in comments.
If the programme includes meetings in the precinct, link the accommodation request to the published meetings and events facts. If delegates will be between the hotel, the Event Centre and river-side functions, the Queen’s Wharf precinct guide is useful for orientation. Keep the booking note factual: no assumptions about unpublished shuttle services, no invented venue nicknames, and no claimed allocation until the hotel confirms it.
A clean request saves revisions
Before sending, remove anything the hotel cannot action. “Best available rooms” is less useful than “City King Room for most delegates, City Twin Room where sharing is required, accessible rooms as listed”. “Near the venue” is less useful than naming The Star Grand and the event space if known. If your board, speakers or interstate team need separate handling, list them under a clear heading.
Ownership does not need to complicate a room request, but it should be stated correctly where a procurement note asks who is involved. Destination Brisbane Consortium is owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited and Far East Consortium International Limited since 31 March 2026. The Star Entertainment Group continues as casino operator under the DBC Casino Management Agreement for a fee, and The Star also manages The Star Brisbane on behalf of DBC. For accommodation, the practical step remains the same: request the rooms, ask for written terms, and confirm through the hotel or booking partner.
The former Treasury Brisbane casino closed on 25 August 2024 when gaming moved to Queen’s Wharf. The Treasury Hotel is listed as “coming soon” with no date. That matters only if an old corporate travel template still points delegates to Treasury for a Brisbane casino-hotel stay. For a current Queen’s Wharf conference week, refer to The Star Grand Brisbane and The Star Brisbane at 33 William Street.
End the request with a clear decision point: ask for availability, the proposed room categories, rate basis, inclusions if any, rooming-list deadline, payment terms and cancellation terms. If you need a fast comparison for a one-night pattern, the shorter one-night, one-meeting note covers that separate use case.
