Airport transfers

Brisbane Airport to The Star Grand by Airtrain, taxi or car

For a work stay at The Star Grand Brisbane, plan the airport leg before you book the room. The resort does not publish an airport distance or airport transfer time, so use live transport sources, your airline’s arrival time and the official Airtrain timetable rather than fixed estimates.

Home / Airport & Airtrain

  1. Before travel

Check your flight status and the official Airtrain timetable. The resort does not publish an airport distance or airport transfer time, so avoid fixed estimates in your work-trip plan.

  2. Airport arrival

Choose Airtrain for a rail transfer into the city network, or a taxi or rideshare for a direct hotel arrival. Match the choice to luggage, meeting timing and the number of travellers.

  3. City station

The Queen’s Wharf precinct states that Roma Street, Central and South Brisbane stations are within walking distance. It does not publish a preferred station or walking time to The Star Grand.

  4. Hotel approach

Use 33 William Street, Brisbane City, Queensland 4000 for The Star Grand. Valet is via the porte cochere; car park entrances are published for William Street, Queen’s Wharf Road and Margaret Street.

  5. After check-in

Check-in is published as 3:00 PM and check-out as 11:00 AM, with express check-out on request. Build meeting and dinner timing around those hotel rules.

What the resort publishes, and what it does not

The Star Brisbane is at 33 William Street, Brisbane City, Queensland 4000. The Star Grand is the hotel in the Queen’s Wharf precinct, with check-in from 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM. Valet access is via the porte cochere at 33 William Street. Those are the useful fixed points for an airport plan.

The resort’s own pages do not publish an airport distance or airport transfer time. That matters for business travel because a late landing, checked baggage, a first meeting and a client dinner can all compress the same afternoon. Do not build a run sheet around an assumed number. Check your airline schedule, the airport’s live arrivals and the official Airtrain timetable on the day you travel.

For rail, the precinct site states that Roma Street, Central and South Brisbane stations are within walking distance. It also lists Brisbane’s Uptown bus hub as a short walk, with numerous bus stops nearby, including the free city loop. North Quay ferry stop or terminal is also described as a short walk. The Bicentennial Bikeway and end-of-ride facilities are listed for cycling.

Those station notes are enough to choose a transfer mode, but not enough to promise a door-to-door duration. If you are carrying luggage, arriving after dark, travelling with delegates or heading straight to a meeting, treat the rail leg and the final station-to-hotel leg as separate decisions. For room selection after the transfer, use the rooms guide rather than guessing what will be assigned.

Airtrain into the CBD

Airtrain is the rail option between Brisbane Airport and the city rail network. For this page, the practical advice is deliberately general: check the official Airtrain timetable before travel, match it to your flight arrival or departure, and choose the city station that best fits your next appointment, luggage and weather.

The Queen’s Wharf precinct identifies Roma Street, Central and South Brisbane stations as within walking distance. It does not publish a preferred station for The Star Grand, nor a walking time from any station to the hotel. If you need step-free routing, a short final taxi ride, or a route that avoids carrying bags over busy CBD streets, confirm that detail directly with official transport sources or the hotel before you travel.

For a one-person trip with a light bag, Airtrain can be a clean way to reach the CBD without relying on road conditions. For a group arrival, a senior traveller with several bags, or a same-day meeting start, the handover between train, station exit and hotel arrival needs more care. Build the itinerary around the meeting time, not around the transport mode.

If your first commitment is at The Star Brisbane Event Centre, check the meetings and events page before you lock the arrival plan. The Event Centre is published as a 1,440 seat ballroom with pre-function bar, outdoor terrace and views to the Story Bridge, and the opening release describes a 3,500sqm Event Centre. Delegate arrivals may need different transfer choices from a solo hotel check-in.

Taxi, rideshare and hotel arrival

A taxi or rideshare is the simpler option when the brief is door-to-door: airport, luggage, hotel. The Star Brisbane publishes the William Street address and valet approach, but it does not publish an airport transfer time. Use live road conditions and the driver’s route rather than a fixed expectation.

For The Star Grand, the key arrival instruction is the porte cochere at 33 William Street. If you are being dropped for a meeting rather than checking in, confirm the correct entrance with the official site or your event organiser. The precinct has multiple public components, including the Sky Deck, The Terrace and the casino floor, so “The Star” may not be specific enough for a driver at a busy time.

The car park is on William Street, with entrances from William Street, Queen’s Wharf Road and Margaret Street. It is open 24/7 subject to availability, and the resort states that there are no vehicles over 2.1m. The venue publishes casual hourly rates, Early Bird and Weekend flat rates, a hotel-guest flat nightly rate and a valet daily rate, but rates are not repeated here because they can change. Check the official locate-us and parking page at star.com.au/brisbane before you drive.

If you are arriving for a same-day presentation, send your arrival mode, flight time and luggage needs with the stay request. The desk can shape the room request around the working day, then direct you to the hotel or official site for any live access or parking detail.

Build the transfer around the work day

A Brisbane work trip usually fails at the margins: a bag checked when it should have been carried on, a train connection not checked, a dinner booked too close to landing, or an early departure planned without allowing for checkout and transport. The safer plan is to block the day by commitments, then pick transport.

For an afternoon arrival, decide first whether you need the room before the meeting. Published check-in is 3:00 PM, and express check-out is on request. If the meeting starts before that, ask about luggage handling and arrival options through the hotel or booking channel. This site does not guarantee early access to rooms.

For a client dinner, the Sky Deck can work because it is within the same Queen’s Wharf precinct. The venue is described as 100 metres above the CBD, with Aloria, Babblers and Cicada Blu on the deck. Published Sky Deck hours are Mon–Thu 6:30am–10:30pm; Fri–Sat 6:30am–midnight; Sun 6:30am–10:30pm, and access is weather-dependent. Use the Sky Deck and dining page to plan that part of the day.

For a compact itinerary, pair this airport page with the 24 hours in Brisbane guide. It keeps the transfer, meeting, river walk, dinner and early checkout in one sequence without inventing airport times the resort does not publish.

How this site earns · How a request works

Commercially, it is simple: a confirmed stay that began as a request on this site earns us a commission from the hotel or the booking partner. The traveller, or the employer, pays the hotel's rate and nothing to us.
