Meetings and events at The Star Brisbane
Use this guide to check the event spaces The Star Brisbane publishes for Queen’s Wharf, then build the accommodation request around the programme. The confirmed headline space is the Event Centre, with a ballroom, pre-function bar, outdoor terrace and Story Bridge views. The venue also names Isoletto Pool Club, Sky Deck and Leisure Deck for events.

What the venue publishes
The main published event offer is the Event Centre. Destination Brisbane Consortium’s opening-date material describes a 1,440 seat ballroom with pre-function bar, outdoor terrace and views to the Story Bridge. The opening release also describes a 3,500sqm Event Centre boasting the city’s largest hotel ballroom. Those are the figures to use when you brief a company meeting, awards dinner, conference plenary or hosted client function.
The Star’s events pages also name Isoletto Pool Club, Sky Deck and Leisure Deck as event venues. The public pages checked for this guide do not publish detailed room-by-room capacities for those areas, so treat them as named options rather than fixed-capacity rooms until the venue confirms the setup. If your programme depends on theatre, cabaret, cocktail or banquet numbers, ask for the current capacity chart from the hotel or from the official events team.
There is one capacity discrepancy to note. Secondary sources refer to a ballroom seating 1,500, while the venue-published figure in the opening-date material is 1,440 seat ballroom. This page uses the venue-published number. If your event is close to either limit, ask the venue to confirm the capacity for the exact setup, stage, production footprint, catering stations and registration desk.
The official events pages sit at star.com.au/brisbane/events-functions and the broader precinct site is queenswharfbrisbane.com.au. This site is independent; use it to request accommodation around the event, then confirm technical event details with the venue.
How to place delegates around a conference
The Star Grand hotel is the accommodation to anchor first. The published count is 340 rooms, and the listed room categories are City King Room, City Accessible Room, City Twin Room, River King Room and River Accessible Room. Published suites are City Suite, River Suite, Skyline City Suite and Skyline Penthouse Suite. For a full room-by-room accommodation view, use the rooms guide before you send the request.
For a conference block, send the dates, delegate count, arrival pattern, departure pattern and room-type mix. If a company has several travellers sharing the same programme, state whether each person needs a separate room, whether twin rooms are acceptable, and whether any accessible rooms are required. The hotel publishes accessible room categories, but the exact allocation needs to be confirmed for the dates.
Check-in is published as 3:00 PM and check-out as 11:00 AM, with express check-out on request. For conference days, that matters. If the first session starts before check-in, ask whether luggage storage, early-arrival handling or pre-registration support can be arranged. If the final session finishes after check-out, ask how late-departure requests are handled. Do not assume either is included.
Valet is via the porte cochere at 33 William Street. The Star Brisbane car park has entrances at William Street, Queen’s Wharf Road and Margaret Street, is open 24/7 subject to availability, and does not accept vehicles over 2.1m. Rates are published by the venue and should be checked directly for the event dates. For flight arrivals, use the airport and Airtrain page for general transport planning and refer to official timetables before locking a run sheet.
Event spaces to use for different business needs
Use the Event Centre when the programme needs a single large formal room and published headline capacity. The ballroom is the only space in the facts with a specific seating number, and the pre-function bar and outdoor terrace give planners named adjacent areas to ask about. Story Bridge views are published for the Event Centre, but the exact outlook from each event setup should be checked with the venue.
Use Sky Deck when the event is more client-facing than classroom-style. The Sky Deck is published as 100 metres above the CBD, with Aloria, Babblers and Cicada Blu on the deck. The viewing platform hours are published as Mon–Thu 6:30am–10:30pm; Fri–Sat 6:30am–midnight; Sun 6:30am–10:30pm, and the deck is weather-dependent. For hosted dinners, the Sky Deck and dining guide sets out the published venues and hours.
Isoletto Pool Club is published on Level 7 and is exclusive to Star Grand guests. Its published hotel facilities include three heated pools overlooking the Brisbane River, sauna, steam room, indoor gymnasium and pool bar. The events pages also name Isoletto Pool Club as an event venue. Because the public material does not publish a function capacity here, ask for weather, access, noise, guest-only and service conditions in writing.
Leisure Deck is also named as an event venue. The opening material refers to the Leisure Deck on Level Seven. As with Isoletto Pool Club, the public facts checked for this page do not publish a capacity chart for event setups. Ask the venue to confirm access routes, wet-weather plan and whether the space is suitable for registration, breaks, networking or private hosting.
Run sheet notes for a Queen’s Wharf event
Keep the event run sheet practical. The Queen’s Wharf precinct sits on William Street in Brisbane City, with the Neville Bonner Bridge connecting South Bank to The Terrace on Level 4. Roma Street, Central and South Brisbane stations are described by the precinct as within walking distance, while North Quay ferry stop or terminal is a short walk. Do not publish exact transfer times unless the venue or transport operator supplies them.
If delegates are moving between the Event Centre, accommodation, dining and the river, name the meeting point clearly. The precinct includes The Terrace on Level 4, the Sky Deck, hotel areas and car parks. For a lunch break or short hosted walk, the Queen’s Wharf precinct page gives the published landmarks without turning the programme into a sightseeing plan.
For a 24-hour work trip, a simple order is easiest: arrive, check in or store luggage, attend the meeting, host dinner, sleep on site, check out, and depart. If the group includes interstate travellers, avoid scheduling a first session before you have checked official airline, airport and rail timetables. The separate 24 hours in Brisbane guide shows the shape of a short business stay using only published transport and venue facts.
Ownership and operation should be stated carefully in corporate material. Destination Brisbane Consortium is owned by CTFE/FEC since 31 March 2026; The Star continues as manager/operator for a fee. The former Treasury Brisbane casino closed on 25 August 2024. The Treasury Hotel is listed as coming soon, with no date, so it should not be used as confirmed conference accommodation.
